AVQ ART

Hello I am Amy and I am an artist. I live in Phoenix, Arizona but was born and raised a Jersey girl. I have been working for many years on many different media. It started with drawing and photography in the 90’s. Then I wanted to illustrate some poetry I had written, which was my first medium, writing. After, of course I realized that my dreams of being a ballerina with the New Jersey Ballet dwindled due to knee pain with daily lessons. I began writing poetry because my parents were very strict and very religious. I didn’t discover art until my last year at University of Maryland, when I added on Sociology as a second major. It just so happened that that art building was also there in the same space. I graduated and got a job with artist Richard Casey painting his paper pulp sculptures in the Scottsdale Airpark. Eventually I went back to school again to be able to teach art. I have been teaching ART for about 15 years now. , but am working to create my own creative career in the arts, just like I tell my students is possible. I have also had a lot of pushback to my dreams as well, but I will never give in. I saw this for my life more than 25 years ago. Currently I am working on two different art series, one with sculpture, using light and crystals, and a revival Egyptian jewelery collection. There is also an memoir I wrote that is illustrated with my art. There is also a little film project on the side. This picture of me is at the Isis Theater in Victor, Colorado. I have been pilgrimaging to the places I want to see in world lately. I took a class in watercolor and social media at Paris College of Art last summer. I am also have been a student of Silvera Jewelry School in Berkeley, Calfornia. I have finally set up an entire painting, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry studio in my home in Phoenix.
